*All of these plans will be adjusted as our church responds to the current status of COVID-19.
Why are we planning to open LifeBridge Kids in October?
o We have done everything possible to open LBK at the most appropriate time for everyone involved, including children, families, ministry partners, and staff.
o Spiritual health is important, and many families want and need onsite children’s ministry for their kids.
o At this time, October seems to be the most appropriate time to relaunch as it is after school has resumed and families are establishing routines.
What is the plan for cleaning?
o Each classroom area will be cleaned before each Sunday.
o All volunteers will be trained on proper cleaning of surfaces.
o Toys and shareable items will be used only for one group at a time. A cleaned bin of toys, markers, etc. will be used for each group on Sundays. All items and surfaces will be cleaned during the week.
What ratios will be used?
o At this time, we would plan for a maximum of 4 children in our Nursery, 6 children in our Toddler room, 5 children per group in our 3’s/4’s & 4K/5K and a maximum of 6 children per group in our Elementary classrooms.
o We will maintain LBK’s safety policies at all times, so there will also be two adults assigned to each classroom.
Will temperatures be taken?
o All volunteers and children who enter kids ministry environments will have their temperatures taken upon arrival.
o Anyone with a temperature above 100.4°F will be asked to wait 20 minutes before having their temperature retaken.
o If a temperature above 100.4°F is present during the follow-up reading, the person will be asked to return to church when they are confident they are not ill or carrying a virus.
Will face coverings be required?
o Face coverings will be required of children in the 4K/5K room and up.
*Parents should have all allergies and medical conditions documented at the new Family Check-In Station. If a child has an existing medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask, a face shield will be offered.
o Face coverings will be required of all volunteers until notified otherwise.
o If a child needs extra attention and a face covering is preventing proper care, the face covering may be removed until the child is consoled and/or the situation is resolved.
o Extra disposable masks and gloves will be available at all times.
How will we maintain a 6-foot distance from each other?
o In short, we cannot guarantee social distancing with children. We will take reasonable steps to distance children and adults from each other.
o For our Nursery, Toddler, Preschool, and Elementary rooms, we will encourage “airplane arms” and other strategies for keeping distance, and we will provide activities that discourage sharing of items and space.
o We will mark the floor at 6-foot intervals and do our best to encourage children to maintain that distance. We will provide activities that discourage sharing of items and space.
o If a child needs extra attention, we will provide a hug, or band-aid, or whatever we would normally do to console the child. Once the child is consoled and/or the situation is resolved, social distancing will resume.
What procedural changes will take place?
o We will ask families to complete the LBK Registration Form before checking their child in, even if they have attended before.
o For new families and walk-ins, there will be a manned check-in area so that a volunteer can enter their information and print their tags.
o We will request that only one parent enter the LBK areas to drop-off and pick-up the child, and we will try to keep traffic moving in one direction as much as possible.
o All children who are checked into kids ministry environments will have their temperature taken upon arrival.
o Children exhibiting symptoms of COVID will be asked not to be checked into their environment and will be asked to return to kids ministry when they are confident they are free of symptoms. (runny nose, fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea)
o Cleaned toys and shareable items will be brought in for each service.
o We will provide activities that discourage sharing of items and space.
o As always, we will focus on providing a safe environment and sharing the love of Christ with children and families.
o The same video lesson that is made available to families worshipping online may also be played on the screens in the classrooms. This video includes worship music, a bible story, and more.
o Food and drinks will NOT be served in any kids ministry room excite in the Nursery. Bottles within the Nursery must be pre-labeled before checking the child in.
